Premium Canadian Black Walnut direct from the mill! We kiln dry and plane/sand each board to prepare them for a finish sand and oil. All boards are thicknessed to 7/8” and cut to a rough 24” length. Select from either 6”-9” widths, or 9”-13” widths. These boards are one of a kind, and mindfully selected by our experienced team. Large cracks and voids are cut out, while your boards may still include smaller defects like knots, small cracks and small voids. The hard work, and mess is taken care of with these boards – they are ready for a finish sand, then oil!

Yes, Black Walnut is considered safe for food contact surfaces when properly finished with a food-safe oil or wax. The hardwood has a fine, closed grain that helps resist moisture and bacterial growth.

Wipe the board with a damp cloth, and mild soap. Avoid soaking or placing it in the dishwasher, as excess moisture can cause warping or cracking. Towel-dry the board and let it air dry on its side. For deeper cleaning, sprinkle coarse salt or baking soda on the board and scrub gently with a half a lemon, this helps remove odors and bacteria.
